In a country known for excess, Tlaxcala is the state of nowhere towns. It is the place people leave behind in search of fortune, only to return on the rare occasion to be with family. It is so small compared to Mexico’s other states, that people say it doesn’t exist.
These photos are an attempt to celebrate the richness of tradition and depth of community in an overlooked and forgotten part of the country where nothing happens that isn’t for the sake of the residents who are already there.
