Xinjiang’s surveillance of Uyghurs has crept beyond the region’s borders and is following Uyghurs as far north as the Arctic.

There are around 2,500 Uyghurs living in Norway. With its famously egalitarian laws and democratic values, Norway seems like it should be the safest place on earth.

But there are groups of Uyghurs living in Oslo and Finnmark, the country's northernmost region, who say they still feel China's reach in the form of harassment from state officials.
